(Previous chapter...)

The figure continued. “Regardless, before I kill you, I will give you my name.” The figure then opened her eyes, revealing blue eyes to me, her opponent.
“My name is Okikurmi!”

(Present chapter)

'Okikurmi?' I thought. 'How does she even know me?' But before I could continue my train of thought, Okikurmi readied her scythe for another attack. I activated the blue gem on my bracelet, spawning a water barrier around myself, but Okikurmi’s attack was stronger than my defense and she cut through the barrier with ease. As I stumbled back in shock, I prepared to use my love gem to heal my injuries, but Okikurmi began walking towards me.
“You can heal all you like, but it’ll be nothing but a battle of attrition for you.”
As the injuries began to slowly dissipate, I responded,
“Why are you doing this, and how do you know my name!?” Okikurmi shook her head in response. “You don’t remember me? We met long ago.” I was confused by this, and Okikurmi noticed this.
“Fine, I’ll tell you before I kill you. Somehow, it was when we were kids. We only met once though, you were a year older than me. But I still recall your name; my guess is because our families introduced themselves. But I can’t remember who it was.” I was still confused by what Okikurmi said. By this point, Okikurmi had enough and let out a sigh.
“Fine then, it doesn’t matter to me regardless of if you remember or not, because you will die by my hands!” She then readied her scythe for another attack, but I spawned an grass energy ball in my hand and shot it at Okikurmi’s feet. Within seconds, Okikurmi was ensnared in vines and couldn’t move. Using this to my advantage, I pulled out a water sword and slashed Okikurmi’s scythe, trying to cut it in half. But Okikurmi noticed this and blocked the sword with her hand, slicing it off in the process. But Okikurmi was unfazed by this, in fact, she was smirking. As I prepared to attack again, Okikurmi’s sliced off hand rose from the ground and re-attached itself to Okikurmi’s body. But despite the shock, I went in for another slash, but Okikurmi blocked it with her scythe and overpowered me quickly due to her superior strength, sending me back in the process. I then decided to swap out my water sword for an electric sword and tried to hit her with the slash as well as a ball of water energy, but Okikurmi was still fast and dodged the attacks with ease. But I got an idea, I then proceeded to launch a ball of fire energy at the water energy ball and once the two collided, it created a massive cloud of steam surrounding us two fighters.
“Interesting…” Okikurmi stated. “Using fire and water energy together to create a distraction. But it won’t do you any good in a fight with me.” As I prepared to use my electric sword once again, I saw Okikurmi launch a bone directly at me. I was able to dodge in time, but I still couldn’t see my opponent. I then decided to raise my sword to the sky and activated my sword’s ability. Within seconds, the steam cloud transformed into a thunder cloud, covering the area inside said cloud with electricity.
'This may hurt me, but at least it will also reveal my opponent.', I thought. I then activated the blue gem again, creating a water barrier around myself and then proceeding to swap out my eletric sword for my water sword once Okikurmi was hit. But Okikurmi charged forward towards me. Within seconds, I spotted her silhouette and charged towards her. As us two were about to collide, we readied our attacks. But as we swung our weapons, I ducked at the last second and hit Okikurmi across the stomach with my sword while I was unharmed by the scythe. After the slash, the water from the attack was still on her body and this attracted one of the lightning bolts to their location.

BOOM!!

We were blown back by the powerful force of the lightning, expelling them from the cloud. I had some burns as a result of the explosion, but Okikurmi was in a worse state. Her stomach was covered in burns, her arms were severely damaged by the electric attack and she was beginning to bleed out.
But as Okikurmi observed her injuries, she let out a sigh.
“Fine then. It’s time to end this.” I readied my sword, anticipating the next attack ahead. Before I ever realized what was happening, Okikurmi teleported herself in front of me and cut me diagonally with her weapon, shattering my blade as well as my bracelets! I let out a deafening scream of pain as blood poured out of my injury, and I hit the ground... And I blacked out...

(David's POV)

“Game over….” Okikurmi stated as she readied her scythe once again. But as she was about to strike, I used my Flame Dash to get inbetween the two, extended my right arm and used my re-animation abilities to obliterate her arm and scythe.
As she looked on in shock, I grabbed Susan as well as her bracelets and used my Flame Dash to get out of there as fast as I could. This was bad; Susan needed to get treatment and fast! But where could I do treat her without that girl spotting us?
Soon enough, I spotted a place that could hide us for the time being. It was my parent’s old house, abandoned for what looked like years now, but still in good condition. It was in the middle of nowhere and the terrain was pretty shitty, so I’m not too surprised looters ignored this place as well as potential buyers after we moved.
Once we got inside, I barricaded the front door just in case and found a good place to tend to Susan’s injuries. I was not going to let her die on me! Especially when I have the tools to save her!

(Meanwhile)

Back in the village, Okikurmi was clinging to her right shoulder in anger.
“Damn it, without my arm, I can’t regenerate it! Who was that guy anyway-“ Before she could finish, she clutched her head in pain. She didn’t know why, but as she clutched her head in pain, her hair was shifting from gray to blonde. But this only lasted for a few seconds before the pain ceased and she returned to normal.
“Stop trying to take over my body!” She gritted her teeth in anger as she moved her hand back to her arm. “I may be using your powers, but you died years ago, so stay dead! Margaret Grimm…”
